Radiation safety of RADON

Radon is a radioactive noble gas.
That means there are two important things to understand.

First, it’s a noble gas - it has a neutral charge and doesn’t chemically react with other atoms or materials.

Once you’ve decided to test your home for RADON and have your testing device or kit ready, place it on the lowest occupied level of your home - that’s usually the basement or ground floor where people spend the most time.

When RADON breaks down, it releases tiny radioactive particles that can damage the DNA inside your cells. Depending on where the damage occurs in the DNA chain, the result can vary greatly.

To Know About RADON

RADON is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can enter your home from the ground through small cracks and openings.
Once inside, it can accumulate indoors, especially in basements or lower levels where people spend time and breathe it in.

When we think about radiation, most of us picture hospital X-rays, superheroes like the Hulk, or nuclear power plants - but RADON is a far more common and invisible source of radiation that exists all around us.

You can’t see, smell, or taste it - but long-term exposure to RADON gas can increase the risk of lung cancer.
That’s why it’s so important to test your home and take action if levels are high.
